Patrick Swayze Died at 57

Patrick Swayze was best known for his roles as romantic leading men in the films Dirty Dancing and Ghost and as Orry Main in the North and South television miniseries. He was died on September 14, 2009 in Los Angeles, California, United States. Swayze was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in late January 2008, and underwent chemotherapy and other treatments at the Stanford University Medical Center.

Patrick Wayne Swayze was an American actor, dancer, singer and song writer. In late 2008 Wayze's doctor confirmed that he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, but insisted he was not as close to death as reports suggest. Specifically, Swayze was diagnosed with a type of pancreatic tumor called Intraductal Papillary Mucinous Neoplasm (IPMN).

According to The Associated Press, "Patrick Swayze passed away peacefully today with family at his side after facing the challenges of his illness for the last 20 months," said a statement released Monday evening by his publicist, Annett Wolf. Swayze died in Los Angeles, Wolf said.

A memorial program for Patrick Swayze is set to air. Patrick Swayze: His Life, His Legacy will air on TV Guide Network at 10/9c Monday and repeat throughout the day Tuesday, including at 8/7c. There will also be special edition of Hollywood 411 on Swayze at 6/5c Tuesday to honor him.
