On August 17, 1915, Leo Max Frank was an American man who became the only known Jew to be lynched on just outside Atlanta. He was the manager of a pencil factory in Atlanta, Georgia. More than 90 years, to a cold case Frank was convicted in the rape and murder of 13-year-old girl and ending in a lynching.

13-year-old girl name is Mary Phagan, who is a pencil-factory worker. The murder case is widely regarded as having been a miscarriage of justice. THe case was appealed all the way to the country's highest court and a story hotly debated in the national press.

In 1915, Leo Frank conviction, new evidence emerged that cast doubt on his guilt. After the governor commuted his death sentence to life imprisonment, Frank was kidnapped from prison and lynched by a group of prominent citizens who called themselves the "Knights of Mary Phagan".
