The Fort Hood shooting was an active shooting which occurred on Thursday, November 5, 2009, at Fort Hood. According to news reports, approximately 1:30 PM local time, Major Nidal Malik Hasan (Army Psychiatrist) stationed at the Killeen U.S. Army base, allegedly entered the Soldier Readiness Center and opened fire, initially killed 11 people and wounding 30 others.
Before Hasan was shot and seriously injured by local police. Two others were detained but later released without charge. The U.S. Army resulted in 43 victims for the Ft Hood Shooting. According to News Sources say, Hasan opened fire with two handguns on a crowd gathered 30 minutes before a scheduled college graduation ceremony for soldiers and family members. Hasan shouted "Allahu Akbar!" before opening fire.
Major Nidal Malik Hasan is 39-year-old was a U.S. Army psychiatrist at the time of the Ft Hood shooting. He is a graduate of Virginia Tech in 1997 and a psychiatrist licensed in Virginia who was practicing at Darnall Army Medical Center at Fort Hood, according to military and professional records.
